Gorgeous Ft. Lauderdale Neighborhood of Sunrise Intracoastal Sits on a Peninsula and Has Both Reasonably Priced Homes and Million Dollar Waterfront Estates
Sunrise Intracoastal is a beautiful neighborhood on a peninsula in east Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Maps vary, but most Realtors say that it is bounded by the Middle River on the west and south, by Sunrise Boulevard to the north and by the Intracoastal Waterway on the east.
The neighborhood is gated and has nearly 600 residents in 175 single family homes, town homes and condominiums. Waterfront single family homes and condos in tall buidlings have price tags in the millions and offer breathtaking views as well as outstanding dockage and direct access to the Intracoastal Waterway and Atlantic Ocean. These million dollar estates feature everything from private guest cottages and zero-entry pools to wine rooms, marble floors and high tech smart wiring.
Sunrise Intracoastal's interior also has gorgeous homes, but some are a little older and a little less extravagant than the waterfront homes.
While Sunrise Intracoastal properties generally start in the $300,000s and quickly reach into the millions, the neighborhood does have some condominiums in the mid- to high-$100,000s. For example, there is a condominium building with water views and units from the mid-$100,000s at 815 Middle River Drive. Another condominium building with units from the mid-$100,000s but without water views is at 2400 NE 9th Street.
Rentals are available, too, starting from about $1,300 per month.
The Galleria, one of Fort lauderdale's top shopping and dining destinations, is at the north end of the neighborhood, and Fort Lauderdale Beach is just three or four blocks away across Sunrise Bridge.
Sunrise Intracoastal has an older demographic (the median age is 52) and is popular with professionals, business executives and retirees. They choose it for its stunning water views, safe, tree-lined streets, lovely homes, nearby shopping and beach proximity. Neighborhood racial diversity is minimal, and politics lean to the right.
This area has a humid subtropical climate. Summer temperatures are in the 80s and 90s, and winter temperatures are in the 60s and 70ss. On average, the area receives 50 inches of rain per year.
