Beautiful, Secluded Waterfront Neighborhood of Bermuda Riviera in Fort Lauderdale, Florida Has Waterfront Homes and Some Reasonably Priced High Rise Condos/Co Ops

Bermuda Riviera is a beautiful canal-laced Fort Lauderdale neighborhood, sandwiched between the Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic Ocean. It starts at about Oakland Park Boulevard, runs north to 42nd Street and then east to A1A.

Secluded, leafy and understated, Bermuda Riviera is also small with about 250 waterfront homes and was developed in the 1960s and 1970s. Most of the residences built during that time have either been extensively updated or torn down to make way for a completely modern home.

New touches might include a private swimming pool, a long boat dock, tall ceilings, tall windows, custom lighting, a gated entrance, impact resistant windows and more. Architectural styles include Mediterranean, traditional, contemporary and others. Most properties sit on a short street next to a canal and have direct ocean access.

Empty nesters, boomers and retirees like this neighborhood because it is near everything but still quiet and safe.

While most homes are extraordinary and expensive, with prices reaching into the millions, the neighborhood also has some reasonably priced housing with stunning Intracoastal water views on the southern end. These are condominium/co ops in high rise buildings and have prices starting in the mid-$100,000s.

Dating from the 1960s, most of these homes have been updated. At least one of the buildings, Coral Ridge Towers East, is a 55+ building. Some maps and some Realtors do not consider these properties a part of Bermuda Riviera, but others do.

Bermuda Riviera is across across the street from Fort Lauderdale Beach and near shopping, dining and entertainment venues.

Neighborhood racial diversity is minimal, and politics lean to the left.

This area has a humid subtropical climate. Summer temperatures are in the 80s and 90s, and winter temperatures are in the 60 and 70s. On average, the area receives 50 inches of rain per year.
